Dodge City football program continues to look to the future and the future always brings change and the latest comes on the Conquistadors coaching staff.
Head Coach,
Ryan Lusby with the departure of Rico McCoy as defensive coordinator has promoted
Shane Dowty into the defensive coordinator role, alongside with
Anathan Gibson being co-defensive coordinator and brought in
Dallas Pruitt to be the new offensive line coach. Dowty who coached the offensive line for the 2024 season for the Conqs moves back to the defensive side of the ball, a side of the ball he was coaching on prior to joining the Conqs, and will work with the defensive backs.
Pruitt comes to Dodge City after playing under and working with Coach Lusby at the University of Arkansas-Monticello. For the past three seasons, Pruitt has served as the offensive line coach for the Weevils of Arkansas-Monticello while also working as recruiting coordinator and director of football operations. He got into coaching as a graduate assistant at UAM from 2020-2022 after three seasons on the roster for the Weevils on the offensive line suiting up in 2017-2019. Coach Lusby was on staff at UAM when Pruitt was a player and his two seasons as a graduate assistant.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to be part of a program with incredible potential and a strong sense of purpose. Dodge City is positioned to grow into a top-tier football destination, and being part of that journey is something I'm passionate about. I'm especially looking forward to working alongside a staff that values player development and competitiveness while making a real impact on young men's futures. The energy, the challenge, and the vision for where this program is headed are all things that genuinely inspire me," said Pruitt on the opportunity to join the staff at Dodge City.
Pruitt an Arkansas native graduated from UAM in 2020 with a bachelor's degree and in 2022 with a master's degree.
He looks forward to making an impact on the Conq football program and Dodge City athletics. "I hope to make a meaningful impact by helping build a strong culture of accountability, discipline, and development. My focus is on elevating not just athletic performance, but also the character and leadership of our student-athletes. I want to help create a program that consistently competes at a high level, recruits the right talent, and develops young men who succeed both on the field and in life. By aligning with the mission of Dodge City athletics, I'm committed to contributing to a winning environment that the entire community can be proud of," said Pruitt.
The Conqs are set to open the 2025 football season on Saturday, August 23rd on the road against Tyler in Texas.
