Coach Anathan Gibson was on Dodge City football staff from 2021-2025 (spring), returning to the sidelines at Dodge City as the Defensive Line coach in spring 2021. He was previously on the coaching staff for the Conquistadors from 2015-18 and played one year for the program back in 2002. 

Gibson helped coached the Conqs to an 8-3 record during the 2023 season helping the program win their first bowl game beating New Mexico Military Institute 35-7 in the Wool Bowl. The Conqs finished second in the KJCCC and #6 in the final NJCAA rankings. He coached a pair of defensive lineman to All-KJCCC honors during the 2023 season, while coaching one All-KJCCC defensive lineman in 2022. In his first season back with the Conqs the team posted a 3-7 record during the 2022 season. In the 2024 season he helped the Conqs post a 6-4 record and finish fourth in the KJCCC and #15 in the NJCAA rankings. 

He worked as an assistant coach during the 2023 and 2024 seasons for the Southwest Storm who compete in the Champions Indoor Football League. 

Gibson has an extensive coaching resume jumping into the coaching ranks immediately after wrapping up his collegiate playing days. Most recently he was on staff with the Hutchinson Blue Dragons in the KJCCC from 2019-20 coaching runningbacks. Prior to coaching at Hutchinson Gibson was with the Conquistadors on previous Head Coach, Gary Thomas' staff serving as Defensive line coach from 2015-2018 and in 2018 coaching the secondary. He was part of the staff that led the Conqs to a 9-3 record in 2015 and the KJCCC title with an appearance in the Salt City Bowl. 

His coaching career started at his alma mater Newberry College as an Assistant Defensive back coach in 2006 and then he served as runningbacks coach at Adrian College from 2007-08 before returning to Newberry to be the Defensive Backs coach from 2008-11. He also coached at Siena Heights University (2011-12 - runningbacks coach), Central Gwinnett high school (2012-13 - defensive backs coach), and Northwestern Oklahoma State University (2013-15 - outside linebackers and defensive line coach). During his time at Newberry he coached multiple All-SAC honorees and Defensive Player of the Year in Division II in former Kansas City Chief, Ron Parker. 

While at Siena Heights University he was a part of helping successfully start their collegiate football program. He also worked for Work of the Day Champions company working under the founder Josh Heupel, Head Coach at the University of Tennessee and President Ken Heupel. 

As a player Gibson started off in the junior college ranks playing a season at Jones County Community College (MS) before transferring to Dodge City to play a season in 2002. He finished his collegiate playing career at Newberry College playing from 2003-05 and would play five different positions. In high school he was the 39th ranked player in South Carolina and was a Blue Chipper in the ACC Conference and team captain for Seneca high school. 

Gibson earned his bachelor's degree in sports management from Newberry College. He has a son, Blaze.
