The cross country season is in motion for the Conquistadors, with a pair of night races under their belt thus far into the fall. 
 
Both the ladies and men find themselves ranked in the first U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NJCAA Division I national rankings. The Conq women check in at #15 in the season's first poll, while the men are ranked #20. 
 
The Conq ladies are the fourth highest-ranked Region 6 team in the poll, with Hutchinson, Butler, and Cloud County coming in at #4, #5, and #11, respectively. The ladies opened the season by taking third at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic in Hutchinson and led a pair of Top 10 individual performances. In the second race of the year, the Conqs competed primarily against four-year competition, finishing 14^th as a team at the Rogers State Distance After Dark in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 
 
Conq men are the sixth highest-ranked Region 6 team in the poll, with Hutchinson, Butler, Colby, Garden City, and Cloud County coming in at #3, #6, #12, #16, and #18, respectively. Like the ladies, the men opened the season with a third-place team finish at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic in Hutchinson, led by a fourth-place finish by Josue Vega. In the second race of the year, the Conqs finished 11^th as a team at the Rogers State Distance After Dark in Tulsa, and again Vega had another fourth-place finish to lead the Conqs. 
 
Three more regular-season races are ahead for the Conqs this season then the Region 6 Championships and NJCAA DI Championships. Up next, the Conqs will compete in El Dorado, Kansas, at the Ollie Isom Invite hosted by Butler CC on Friday, September 11^th.
