Karen Galaviz Earns KJCCC DI Player of the Week Honors

April 21, 2026

Dodge City softball continues to put together one of the best seasons in over 20 years for the program, and last week the Conquistadors went 3-1 in action with a road doubleheader sweep of Pratt and a split at home against Hutchinson.

The play of Karen Galaviz during the week helped lead the Conqs to three wins and earned her KJCCC Division I Player of the Week honors. The recognition marks the ninth time this season a Conq has picked up Player or Pitcher of the Week honors in the KJCCC.

In four games this week, Galaviz was 7-13 at the plate with six runs scored, two doubles, four home runs, seven RBI, and a walk. She helped lead a 12-home run attack for the Conqs in the road doubleheader against Pratt, hitting four of the 12 home runs. Galaviz was 2-3 with two home runs, five RBI, and a walk in game one at Pratt and then 3-3 with three runs scored, two home runs, and two RBI in game two. In the doubleheader against Hutchinson, she notched a hit in both games, recording a double in each matchup with the Blue Dragons.

This season, Galaviz is hitting .442 with 34 hits, 28 RBI, 16 walks, nine doubles, two triples, 31 runs scored, six stolen bases, and six home runs.

The Conqs are still vying for a top finish in the KJCCC and are on the road on Wednesday, April 22nd, when they take on Butler on the road, and then will cap the week with a road trip to Seward County on Friday, April 24th.
