Back-to-back weeks, Dodge City softball freshman,
Avery McCloskey, has earned KJCCC Division I Pitcher of the Week honors, with the latest coming after strong outings against Hutchinson and Butler last week.
McCloskey has now earned Pitcher of the Week twice in the conference and earned Player of the Week earlier in the season.
Last week, McCloskey was instrumental in the Conquistadors' road win over Hutchinson to split a doubleheader with the Blue Dragons. She threw all seven innings, giving up just one unearned run on four hits and four walks, while striking out seven in the win. In the series with Butler, she threw five innings, giving up five runs on eight hits and two walks, while striking out seven.
On the season, McCloskey has been strong inside the circle for the Conqs, throwing 58 innings with a 2.66 ERA, picking up eight wins in 14 appearances. She has 56 strikeouts to only 26 walks. She leads the KJCCC in ERA. She has provided a big impact at the plate also for the Conqs as she is hitting .387 with 36 hits, 38 RBI, 19 doubles, seven home runs, and 27 runs scored.
Conqs gear up for two more conference doubleheaders over the rest of the week, taking on Seward County at home on Wednesday, March 25th, and then traveling to Great Bend for a matchup with Barton on Saturday, March 28th.
