Dodge City football opened the season on the road against #9 Tyler, and the performance of sophomore
Anthony Mattison has earned him KJCCC Defensive Player of the Week honors, covering games for Weeks 0 and 1 of action.
Mattison was the team's leading tackler in the week 0 contest against Tyler, recording nine tackles, including two tackles for loss and an interception. Six of his nine tackles were solo tackles, and he helped the Conqs hold Tyler to under 100 yards rushing in the contest.
The Miami, Florida native returned as the top tackler on the Conquistadors' defense this season as he recorded 36 tackles with 5.5 tackles for loss and two sacks as a freshman last year.
Mattison marks the sixth Player of the Week honor for a Conq during Head Coach
Ryan Lusby's tenure.
The Conqs get back to action on Saturday, September 13th, when they travel to take on #7 Garden City at 7:00 pm.
