Dodge City Football Picked to Finish Fifth in KJCCC Preseason Poll

August 05, 2025

After a solid first season under Head Coach Ryan Lusby, the Dodge City football team is eager for the 2025 season, which is just around the corner. As the Conquistadors head into year two under Coach Lusby, they have been picked to finish fifth in the preseason KJCCC poll.

The Conqs are coming off a 6-4 season in 2024, their first year under the guidance of Coach Lusby, as they finished fourth in the KJCCC and ranked #15 in the NJCAA. Entering the 2025 season, the Conqs go into the year with more depth across the board at all positions and talent all-around. While only a few players who saw action in 2024 return, several other players return after a redshirt season with the Conqs or who spent the spring with the team.

The 2025 KJCCC preseason poll is as follows: 1. Hutchinson, 2. Garden City, 3. Butler, 4. Coffeyville, 5. Dodge City, 6. Independence, and 7. Highland.

The 2025 schedule is stacked yet again with a strong set of games competing in the KJCCC, along with action against the three schools from Iowa and a non-conference tilt with Tyler Junior College. The schedule features five teams that finished the 2024 season ranked.

Conqs will open the 2025 season on the road and under the lights in Texas against Tyler on Saturday, August 23rd. Jayhawk Conference play opens on Saturday, September 13th, against rival Garden City in a night game, and then the Conqs welcome the 2024 NJCAA runner-up, Iowa Western Reivers, to Dodge City on Saturday, September 20th, for the first home game of the season.

The Conqs will get Highland, Coffeyville, Butler, and the defending NJCAA National champions, Hutchinson, at home, while hitting the road to take on Independence, Ellsworth, and Iowa Central to finish out the schedule.
