Volleyball Sweeps Pratt 3-0 to Open Conference Play

August 28, 2025

Box Score At home for the first time this season, the Dodge City volleyball team opened Jayhawk Conference play, taking on Pratt, and would earn a 3-0 win (25-23, 25-19, 25-15) to move to 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in KJCCC play.

The win marks the seventh straight for the Conquistadors in the series with Pratt, with all seven of those wins coming in three sets.

The Conqs opened the night with a 3-0 start to the first set, led by the serving of Allison Mason, but Pratt pushed back and would lead 8-5 early in the first set. The first set was back-and-forth until the Conqs pushed ahead to a 22-17 lead, the largest lead of the set. However, Pratt didn't go away as they mounted a 6-0 run to take a late 23-20 lead in the first set. The Conqs countered, scoring the final five points to win the first set 25-23. Set two saw the Conqs jump up early at 4-1, but again Pratt pushed back and would take a 12-11 lead. The set would be tied at 15-15, and the Conqs would then go on to outscore Pratt 10-4 to take the second set 25-19. The third set would see the Conqs establish early control, leading 10-5, and that lead would just expand over the set, cruising to the 25-15 third set win to take the match in straight sets.

Multiple Conqs saw action on the night, making contributions in several ways. Kayla Cantrill had her fourth double-digit kill performance of the season out of five matches, recording 12 kills and hitting .474 for the match, while adding six digs. Allison Mason had a strong night with eight kills, 11 digs, and two aces, while Chelsea Durbridge and Jayde Ta'amu-Perifanos set the offense in motion with 18 and 13 assists apiece.

The Conqs are ready for more action at home over the weekend as they are set to host the Victory Electric Classic for the second straight season. Conqs will take on #14 Eastern Arizona, #2 Miami Dade, Lee, and #11 New Mexico Military Institute at the Victory Electric Classic, playing two matches each on Friday and Saturday, August 29th-30th.
