Eleven Conqsuistador Football Players Earn All-KJCCC Honors

Eleven Dodge City football players have earned KJCCC all-conference honors after the 2025 season. 

The Conquistadors had one first-team selection, six second-team selections, and four honorable-mention selections to the all-conference team. Sophomore, Lovell Vereen, earned first team all-conference at linebacker to lead the way for all-conference honors for the Conqs. Four more defensive players earned second-team honors as sophomores, Anthony Mattison and AJ Vaughns each picked up honors at safety and defensive tackle, while redshirt freshmen, Tristen Graham and Nate Gunderson picked up the second team honors at defensive tackle and linebacker. On offense, sophomores Derick Shanks Jr. and Carson Spoonts both were selected as second team at runningback and fullback. Four more Conqs picked up honorable mention all-conference honors as sophomores, Jamari Mosley and David Ramos got the nod at cornerback and wide receiver, while redshirt sophomore, Avery Ferris, earned honors at center, and redshirt freshman, Noah Wilson, picked up the honors at offensive guard. 

Vereen was a consistent presence in the middle of the Conquistadors' defense at linebacker and was tied for the lead on the team in tackles with 66. He ranked in the Top 25 in the NJCAA in total tackles while ranking third in the KJCCC in tackles and tackles per game (6.6). He added 1.5 sacks and nine tackles for loss, a fumble recovery, and an interception.

Gunderson was in the middle of the defense for the Conqs alongside Vereen and tied for the lead on the team in tackles with 66 to rank in the Top 25 in the NJCAA and third in the KJCCC in both tackles and tackles per game (6.6). He wreaked havoc in opponent backfields, recording 14 tackles for loss, which ranked Top 10 in the NJCAA and fourth in the KJCCC, while he added three sacks.

Mattison was a true hybrid guy for the Conqs, best described as a Swiss army knife for the Conqs' defense, seeing action at safety and linebacker, playing in coverage and in the box. He was second on the team in tackles and tied for fifth in the KJCCC in total tackles and tackles per game (6.2). He was constantly in opposing backfields recording fourth sacks and 13 tackles for loss, which ranked Top 15 in the NJCAA, while also adding an interception on the season. 

Graham was a staple along the defensive line for the Conqs making plays regularly recording 49 tackles on the season with 9.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery. 

Vaughns was also a regular on the defensive line that opposing teams had to scheme against, and he regularly caused problems for opponents. Vaughns finished with 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 2.5 tackles for loss. 

The most consistent presence on offense for the Conqs was perhaps Shanks out of the backfield, as he ran for 597 yards on 149 carries with a touchdown. He averaged 59.7 yards per game and four yards per carry, ranking third in the KJCCC in rush yards and fourth in rush yards per game. 

Another Conq that was a do-it-all type of guy was Spoonts, who lined up at tight end and fullback, along with making an impact on special teams. He grabbed 10 receptions for 175 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 17.5 yards per catch, while on special teams, he returned kicks and averaged 30.4 yards per return with a touchdown. 

Leading the receiving crop for the Conqs was David Ramos, who snagged 34 passes on the season for 411 yards with a touchdown. Ramos averaged 41.1 yards per game and 12.1 yards per catch, while ranking eighth in the KJCCC in total receiving yards. 

In the defensive back field, Mosley was a big presence for the Conqs as he had four interceptions, which ranked Top 10 in the NJCAA and fifth in the KJCCC. He added 29 tackles and a forced fumble on the season. 

Along the offensive line, Ferris was a consistent presence for the Conqs, seeing action throughout the season as he lined up primarily at center to lead the offensive line. 

Wilson became a staple along the offensive line for the Conqs as he was consistently in the trenches all season, helping lead the way for the Conqs.  

Head Coach Ryan Lusby, in his two seasons leading the Conqs, has had 19 players earn KJCCC all-conference honors.
