It was a monster performance by
Wesly Rosa last week for the Dodge City men's basketball team, posting a triple-double in an 81-78 overtime road win.
Rosa's performance has earned NJCAA Division I National "Player of the Week" honors after being named the KJCCC DI "Player of the Week" earlier in the week. He is the third Conquistador athlete to earn NJCAA National "Player of the Week" honors this year, with the other two coming from men's soccer.
He had a career day in the victory over Cloud County, posting a career-high 22 points on 9-14 shooting and 4-6 from the free throw line. He was all over the rim on both ends, grabbing 15 rebounds and blocking 13 shots.
On the season, Rosa is averaging 7.8 points per game on 70.7% shooting, ranking second in the KJCCC and 13th in the NJCAA in field goal percentage. He's filled out his stat line on the season with 9.1 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game. He leads the KJCCC in total blocks (31) and blocks per game, and ranks second in the NJCAA in total blocks while leading the nation in blocks per game. His 9.1 rebounds per game are second in the KJCCC, and his 82 total rebounds are second in the conference.
Conqs continue conference play on Wednesday, December 3rd, against Colby at 7:30pm, and then will travel to Coffeyville on Saturday, December 6th, to take on the #10 Red Ravens at 4:00 pm.
