Men's Soccer Coach Juan Espinal Named Coach of Year & Six Players Earn All-KJCCC Honors

November 06, 2025

Dodge City men's soccer improved my four wins and achieved their best NJCAA national ranking in school history during the 2025 season, ranking as high as #11 while posting a 9-5-3 record on the year. The Conquistadors finished third in the KJCCC.

The strong season by the Conqs earned six Conq players KJCCC All-Conference, while head coach, Juan Espinal, was selected as KJCCC Division I Coach of the Year. Keitu Mphomane led the individual awards for the Conq players, earning first team All-KJCCC, while Davide Dalla Francesca, Soma Kanazawa, Kanta Watanabe, and Francesco Pennacchio each got the nod for second team All-KJCCC. David Garcia picked up honorable mention All-KJCCC honors.

Coach Espinal, in his second season, had a four-win improvement for the Conqs and guided the team to a third-place finish in the conference, while jumping into the NJCAA national rankings, moving up to as high as #11. The season included big wins over #9 Indian Hills (2-1) and 2-1 over #6 Barton (2-1).

Mphomane wore the captain's armband for the Conqs all season and played in all 17 games, starting every contest in the midfield. The freshman earned first-team All-KJCCC honors as he helped lead the Conqs and tallied three goals and one assist on the season.

For the second straight year, Kanazawa earned second-team All-KJCCC honors at forward. During the 2025 season, Kanazawa tied for the team lead in goals with seven and was second on the team in assists with five, starting and playing in all 17 games. The sophomore closes his Conq career with 12 career goals, which is fourth most in school history, and he played in 34 career games only missing two games.

Dalla Francesca also earned second-team All-KJCCC honors at forward alongside Kanazawa as he was tied for the team lead in goals with seven while adding three assists. He played in 15 of the teams 17 games with 14 starts on the season.

On the backline, Pennacchio was a staple for the Conqs as he wore the captain armband and was an anchor at center back. He played in 15 games with 13 starts and recorded one goal on the season, and picked up second team All-KJCCC honors as a defender.

Also earning All-KJCCC honors as a defender was another gentleman who was a regular on the backline for the Conqs at center back, as Watanabe picked up the honors. Watanabe played in 16 of the teams 17 games on the season with 15 starts.

Garcia, for the second straight year, earned All-KJCCC honors, picking up honorable mention honors this season after playing in 16 games with 14 starts. He led the team in assists with eight, tying a single-season school record while also scoring two goals. Garcia closed his Conq career playing in 35 games and tallying 13 career assists, breaking the school record.

In two seasons under coach Espinal, he's had 10 All-KJCCC honorees, including a pair of players who are two-time selections.
