Women's Soccer Earns Third Straight Victory With Road Win Over Seward County

September 15, 2024

Box Score For the first time since 2019, the Dodge City women's soccer team has a three-match win streak as they picked up another win beating Seward County 3-0 on Saturday.

The win moves the Conquistadors to 3-3-1 on the season and 3-2-1 in KJCCC play giving the team a three-match win streak with back-to-back road wins.

The first half would see the Conqs battling for possession and opportunities as Seward County would fire off multiple shots but not many squared up on goal. The Conqs' opportunities were super limited in the first half and didn't come until late in the first half ultimately when the first goal of the match came, also. In the 38th minute, Iran Rodriguez found Mariam El Mir in the middle of the field who then sent the ball forward to Emily Alonso who worked her way around a defender and chipped in the Conqs for goal of the day. The Conqs would carry the 1-0 lead into halftime and in the second half would pick up more opportunities as Tara Knego found El Mir in the box off a free kick in the 56th minute making it 2-0 for the Conqs. El Mir would grab her second goal of the day on a free kick in the 69th minute and the Conqs had a 3-0 lead. The Conqs would keep Seward County off the board and secure the 3-0 win on the road.

Conqs were outshot 14-8 in the matchup but again the Conqs took advantage of their opportunities to find three goals. El Mir netted a pair of goals and Alonso tallied her first goal of the season, while Knego, El Mir, and Rodriguez each registered an assist.

Ana Ramirez-Cortes helped the Conqs record their first shutout of the season as she recorded five saves in the victory.
The Conqs will have a bit of a break before getting back to action when they will host an unbeaten and eighth-ranked Butler team on Saturday, September 21st at 5:00 pm.
