Men's Basketball Drop Non-Conference Tilt to NOC-Tonkawa

Box Score Dodge City men's basketball wrapped up action at the Broncbuster Classic in Garden City taking on Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa and while the Conquistadors would have a better shooting day than against North Platte it was Tonkawa who grabbed the win 89-81. 

The Conqs would once again keep the contest tight throughout, but NOC-Tonkawa would grab the lead and hold on to it leading to a 42-37 halftime score with the Conqs down five. In the second half, the Conqs pushed back yet again and drew with one point, but NOC-Tonkawa countered with a 14-3 that turned into a 21-8 run. The Conqs continued to fight until the end but ultimately could never draw even or take the lead falling 89-81. 

Offensively the Conqs shot 42.2% from the field and were 22-29 from the free-throw line in the loss. 

Mynor Strong with 15 points paced the Conqs as he was 5-9 from the field and 4-4 from the free throw line. Kyle Burns added 15 points, four rebounds, and three steals, while Jayse Boatwright had another double-figure performance with 13 points. Derrick Rivers chipped in 10 points off the bench, while Kejuan Payne finished with nine points and 12 rebounds. 

The Conqs with the loss fell to 0-3 to start the 2024-25 season and gear up for a tough true road game against #11 Indian Hills on Tuesday, November 12th at 7:30 pm in Ottumwa, Iowa.
