Back-to-back seasons the Dodge City women's basketball team has earned a trip to the NJCAA Division I national tournament under Head Coach,
Landon Steele and looks to continue to be a top team in the KJCCC and nationally.
The Conquistadors are coming off a 27-7 record and 19-5 in the KJCCC finishing second in the conference for the 2023-24 season, earning a trip to the NJCAA DI national tournament for the second straight year. The 2022-23 season saw the Conqs record 29 wins and win the KJCCC title.
With back-to-back great seasons under Head Coach, Steele the Conqs look to continue to build for year four under Steele and enter the season preseason picked to finish second in the KJCCC Division I coaches poll.
Last year under Coach Steele the Conqs averaged 78.7 points per game on 43% shooting while holding teams to 64.2 points per game on 34.7% shooting. The program's offensive numbers have steadily improved each year and defense has been consistent for the Conqs.

A quartet of Conqs return after playing in all 34 games as freshmen to give the Conqs a strong base to build upon for the season.
Layla-J Cameron returns after earning second-team All-KJCCC honors last year averaging 11.1 points per game while shooting 48.1% from three-point range which ranked third in the nation. Cameron impacts the Conqs in several other ways also as she averaged 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game last season.
On the wing, another shooter/playmaker is back for the Conqs as
Tayah Morgan returns as one of the top bench contributors last year for the Conqs. Morgan averaged 7.8 points per game while shooting 36.4% from three-point range adding 1.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.
In the post, the duo of
Shorna Preston and
Mia Jordan are back to anchor inside after strong contributions as freshmen. Preston and Jordan both finished in the Top 10 in school history in single-season blocks as freshmen with 73 and 54 blocks each last year. Both also proved they could be a scoring threat inside each recording multiple double-figure scoring games, while also being able to rebound the ball well. Preston averaged 7.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 blocks per game, while Jordan added 4.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, one assist, and 1.6 blocks per game.
Kiana Herrera also returns for the Conqs with a year under her belt in the program, while
Becca Unruh spent the spring of last season with the Conqs after transferring in from Bethany College (KS).
The Conqs add a pair of transfers to mix in
Konstantina Mantziori and
Morane Dossou who will impact the Conqs in different ways. Mantziori will look to handle the ball for the Conqs and help lead the backcourt as she transfers in from Purdue University Fort Wayne where she played in 17 games for the Mastodons. In high school she was an all-around player averaging 10.9 points, 7.9 assists, 3.2 steals, and 2.1 rebounds per game; she is familiar with Coach Steele as she was recruited out of high school by Landon. Dossou comes to Dodge City after a season at Independence CC where she played in 31 games with 20 starts averaging 4.5 points, nine rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game. She gives the Conqs another strong presence inside that will rebound and alter shots while looking to add some scoring.
The Conqs round out the roster with the addition of five freshmen. In the backcourt, the Conqs add a pair of ladies from Taiwan,
Ashley Lee and
Savi Mi each look to give the Conqs more ball handling and shooting on the floor.
Morgan Ruff and
Nia Anderson also look to factor into the equation for the Conqs providing different aspects to the game in the backcourt.
Sofia Ahmed will look to help fill in some depth in the frontcourt giving the Conqs more size and another solid presence in the post.
The season embarks for the Conqs on Monday, November 4th when they host Western Texas for a non-conference contest at 5:30 pm. Then the Conqs will have three games at the Odessa Classic and two more at the Western Nebraska CC Classic for their non-conference slate. Conference play will open with a showdown against Garden City on Wednesday, November 20th and then the first home conference game will be Saturday, November 23rd against Cloud County.
