Box Score Put it in reverse….that's what the Dodge City volleyball team did for the second time this season both in conference play completed a reserve sweep as they earned a five-set win over Hutchinson.
The Conquistadors dropped the first two sets but responded by winning the next three sets to win the match 18-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-7 to move to 17-10 on the season, 8-2 in the KJCCC, and 8-1 at home.
Conqs fell behind early in the first set as Hutchinson put together an early 5-0 run to lead 7-3 and that lead grew to 12-6 for the Blue Dragons. Hutchinson would use their early lead to grab the first set 25-18. The second set would be a back-and-forth affair as the Conqs would tie it up late at 23-23 but Hutchinson would rattle off the final two points to take the set 25-23. The third set would see Hutchinson take the early lead, but the Conqs pushed back to tie the set at 19-19 behind a pair of
Sila Yildiz kills and then took their first lead of the set at 22-21. The Conqs would finish the third set 25-22 to push the match to a fourth set. It was a hot start to the fourth set that led the Conqs to lead 7-3 early and 14-8 ultimately leading to a 25-21 set win to even the match at 2-2. Early it was back-and-forth in the fifth set tied at 2-2 and then 5-5 but the Conqs would mount a 7-0 run to lead 10-5 and use that to go on and earn a 15-7 fifth set win to claim the match.
Leisey Keli'i had a season-high 25 digs at the libero spot adding a pair of aces, while
Azra Arslanoglu recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs.
Beatriz Lampugnani Cornachini finished with 12 kills and seven digs on the evening, while Yildiz added nine kills, 10 digs, and five block assists.
Hayden Pinard recorded 38 assists and seven digs in the contest.
The Conqs have six matches remaining in the regular season and will continue conference play at home against Cloud County on Saturday, October 12th at 6:30 pm.
