For the first time since 2015, the Dodge City men's golf team has claimed the district championship and claimed their first Region VI title since 2018. The tournament win punches the Conquistadors' ticket to the NJCAA Division I National Championships for the 33rd straight year.
The Conqs put together a strong three-round of competition at the Central District and Region VI Championships in Wichita to win the tournament with a three-round +13 team score of 877 to win by six strokes. The Conqs carded a 295 in the first round and then stormed into the lead behind a spectacular 290 in the second round; in the final round, the Conqs fended off multiple advances by teams to secure the win with a 292 third round.
An individual tournament win for the Conqs paced the way to the team title as Arthit Kruaprayong tied for first place finishing +2 with a score of 218. He would card rounds of 72, 73, and 73 to earn the tournament win.
Thanaphon Suwannapratheep tied for fourth place behind a +3 score of 219 after notching rounds of 75, 72, and 72. Both Brent Reintjes and Supakit Seelanagae each tied for seventh place after posting scores of 220 (+4) for the tournament. Reintjes tallied rounds of 73, 74, and 73, while Seelanagae notched rounds of 75, 71, and 74.
Austin Goodrum capped the tournament tied for 17th with a score of 226 (+10), carding rounds of 76, 74, and 76. Cole Streck finished out the Conqs scores as he finished 33rd with a 231 (+15) score.
The Conqs will now get ready to compete at the NJCAA DI National Championships which will take place at Sand Creek Station golf course in Newton, Kansas starting on Tuesday, May 16th going through Friday, May 19th.
