The Conference season is underway in an impressive fashion for the Dodge City men's golf team as they earned a win at the Jayhawk Match I hosted at Colbert Hills golf course in Manhattan.
The Conquistadors put together a three-round score of 865 to tie for first place with Hutchinson at the first Jayhawk conference action of the spring season. The Conqs opened the tournament with a 289 and followed that up with their best team round in the second round at 286 and then capped the tournament with a 290. Conqs and Hutchinson finished 56 strokes better than third place team at the competition.
Individually the Conqs had five golfers in the Top 10 out of 54 golfers in action with the top four guys on the team scoring and one other Conq who competed as an individual for the competition. Leading the charge for the Conqs was the play of
Thanaphon Suwannapratheep who was one of only two golfers to finish under par for the tournament carding a -1 score of 215 to earn second place. Thunder's best round came in his final round as he shot a 70 (-2).
Brent Reintjes tied for third place finishing even for the tournament with a 216 score over three rounds. Reintjes also tied for the best round of the tournament shooting a 68 (-4) in the second round.
Arthit Kruaprayong grabbed fifth place finishing with a three-round score of 217 to finish +1, with a 70 in the first round being his best round of the tournament.
Supakit Seelanagae recorded a tied for a sixth place finish with a score of 218 (+2) finishing the tournament with his best round a 71 (-1).
Luka Stanisavljevic continued his strong spring for the Conqs finishing ninth as he competed individually from the team score. A three-round score of 219 (+3) earned Stanisavljevic a Top 10 finish with an even-par 72 in both the first and third rounds highlighting the competition for him.
Cole Streck posted a tied-for-15th finish after posting a score of 231 (+15), while
Austin Goodrum placed tied for 24th with a score of 234 (+18), and
Davan Smith finished out the Conqs in action as he finished 42nd with a score of 255 (+39).
Conference tournament action continues for the Conqs in April on the 10th-11th with the Jayhawk Match II tournament which will take place at Crestview Country Club South in Wichita.
