For the second straight week, the Dodge City softball team has a player named KJCCC Division I Softball "Player of the Week" and the honors goes to
Melanie Castro again this week.
Castro picks up the honor now in back-to-back weeks and it marks the third "Player of the Week" honors for the Conquistador softball team this season.
Last week Castro continued her scorching hot run at the plate for the Conquistadors as she went 11-13 last week with 10 RBI, nine runs scored, three doubles, two triples, two home runs, two walks, and two stolen bases. She went 8-8 in a doubleheader sweep of Garden City on the road finishing with 10 RBI, seven runs scored, three doubles, a triple, and two home runs including an inside the park home run.
On the season Castro is hitting .250 with 26 hits, 24 runs scored, 19 RBI, five doubles, four triples, two home runs, and 11 walks. She is on a seven-game hitting streak with 19 hist during that span.
The Conquistadors continue the season Tuesday, March 8th against Northwest Kansas Tech in one single game at 3:00 pm.
