Box Score They defeated Northwest Kansas Technical College 79-52 on Saturday.
The game started well for Dodge City as they raced out to a 16-5 lead and did not slow down from that point. Through great defensive play the Conqs would outscore Northwest 22-10 in the first quarter and 21-12 in the second allowing DC3 to take a 21 point lead into the locker room at halftime.
The second half was much more even as the Conqs outscored Northwest by just three points in each of the third and fourth quarters. The damage was already done however, as Dodge City was able to roll to a 27 point victory.
Dodge City was stellar all game long defensively as they allowed Northwest to make just 15-65 of their FG attempts for the game and 6-23 from the 3 point line. That equates to percentages of 23, and 26. The Conqs shot better as they were able to make 44.2% from the field and 35.3% from three. Dodge City was also able to have a massive rebounding edge by grabbing 65 rebounds compared to 37 by Northwest.
The one major problem the Conquistadors did have was their ability to get to the free throw line. Northwest got to the free throw line 28 times, converting on 16 of them. Meanwhile, Dodge City got to the free throw line just 9 times for the game.
Allie Baker and
Ashley Nelson each contributed 11 points, while Addison Rawley, and Makeala Ewing had 10 points apiece. Baker also contributed 8 assists, and
Haleigh Hill led the team with 13 rebounds.
The Conqs will go back on the road on Thursday to face off against Colby Community College.
