(Dodge City, KS.) -- The Dodge City Community College Women's Basketball team closes the regular season this week. The last home game will be sophomore night Wednesday Night against Pratt Community College, and on Saturday travel to Goodland, KS to take on Northwest Kansas Technical College.
The Series
Vs. Pratt
- Since 2014-15, Dodge City Community College has played very well in this series, and hold a 6-2 edge in the matchup.
- The Conquistadors have won the last 3 matchups against the Beavers.
- Makaela Ewing and Addison Rowley were the 2 people to score in double figures for the Conqs last time out, as they scored 10 points each.
Vs. Northwest Kansas
- The Conqs have fared well in this matchup in recent years, going 7-2 in the last 9 matchups.
- Dodge City won the first 5 matchups since 2014-15, NWKTC won the next 2 and now Dodge City has won 2 straight.
- In the prior matchup this year, the Conqs were able to roll over the Mavericks, winning 79-52.
- In that matchup, Dodge City had 4 different players scoring in double figures.
Fast Break
- It has been a season of streaks for the Conquistadors. They had a very tough start to January losing 6 of 7, after that, they won 4 straight, and since then they have now lost 4 straight.
- Dodge City fell in all three of their games last week, first to Seward, then Hutchinson, and then in a close contest 56-50 to Garden City.
- Against Seward, the Conqs fell 68-55
- The game against Hutchinson saw the Conqs struggle offensively the whole way through the game in a 59-31 loss.
- Against Hutchinson, the Conqs shot just 22.2%, and the only quarter where they were even able to get into double digits was the 4th.
- Against Garden City shooting really hurt the Conqs. After shooting over 46% in the first quarter they progressively got worse throughout the game and only shot 22% in the fourth. For the game, they shot just over 36%, turned the ball over 18 times, and shot just 14% from 3.
Scouting
Pratt Community College
- The Pratt Beavers are currently 17-10 overall, but just above .500 in the conference at 10-9.
- Pratt has a dynamic duo in Courtney Cleveland and Rylee Alexander that DC3 will need to figure out a way to slow down. Between the two of them, they average 26 points per game and shoot over 45%.
- Last week the Beavers beat Garden City 56-34, then lost to NWKTC 79-73.
Northwest Kansas Technical College
- The Mustangs are having a tough season, they are 2-25 overall, with both wins coming in the conference, but have lost 17 games in conference play.
- Prior to February 9th, they lost their first 23 games of the season and now have won 2 of their last 4.
- Last week they lost to Barton Community College and then knocked off Pratt 79-73.
