Box Score After struggling through the month of January, the Conquistador women's basketball team finished the month on a high note with two straight wins. Wednesday night they defeated Pratt Community College on the road by a score of 53-47.

The game started on the slow side offensively for both teams. The Conqs were very solid on the defensive end holding Pratt to only four points through the first five minutes of competition. The only problem at that point was Dodge City was only able to score three in the same time frame. The last five minutes of the opening quarter saw the Conqs outscore Pratt 8 to 6 to take a 11-10 lead after the first period. The offensive productivity picked up for both teams in the second quarter. Makaela Ewing came off the bench to spark the Conqs as they stretched the lead out to five points with just over four minutes left in the quarter. Pratt was able to close the gap a little and Dodge City went to the locker room with a 27-25 halftime lead.

The third quarter was a very strange quarter both both teams. In the first four and a half minutes of the second half, the Conqs were held scoreless and were facing a four point deficit as Pratt had scored six points in that time period. However the last five and a half minutes of the quarter was a complete change of fortunes for the two teams. Pratt did not score the rest of the period and the Conqs went on a 10-0 run to take a 37-31 lead going into the final quarter. Each team picked up the offensive production in the final period and Dodge City was able to hit free throws down the stretch to hold off the Beavers for a six point win.

Ewing and Addison Rowley each scored 10 points to lead the Conqs. Alec Fitts grabbed seven rebounds and Allie Baker handed out four assists to contribute to the win for Dodge City.

The Conqs will be back in action on Saturday at the Student Activity Center at 1:00pm when they host Northwest Kansas Technical College. The game will serve as winter homecoming for Dodge City Community College.
