Box Score The Dodge City Community College women's soccer team hung tough in the first half against Barton Community College in Great Bend on Saturday. The second half was a different story as the Cougars got four late goals to pull away as the Conqs lost by a score of 6-0.
Barton got two goals in the first seven minutes of the game as Laura Maria found the back of the net twice in the first half. After the shaky start the Conqs defense toughened up and did not allow another goal for over sixty minutes.
Once Barton broke through in the second half with a goal from Rayassa Neres in the 73
rd minute of the game, the floodgates opened and Dodge City could not manage to keep the Cougars away from the offensive end. Neres scored two more times in the final 15 minutes and Larissa Fagundes also got a goal in the 81
st minute of the game.
Dodge City did manage to put four of their eight shots on goal, but came up empty on all four.
Alexis McKinnon recorded four saves in goal for the Conqs.
The loss drops the Conqs to 3-4-1 overall and 2-2-0 in conference play. They are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Hutchinson.
