Box Score DODGE CITY, Kan. - With No. 13 Seward County outscoring Dodge City 28-8 off turnovers, the Conquistadors fell to the Saints on Wednesday night by a score of 88-53.
With no Conquistadors scoring in double figures,
Alec Fitts led the way on the offensive end, scoring eight points.
Kaylee Dale led the way on the boards, pulling down seven rebounds on the night.
Early in the first quarter after the game was tied at two, Seward went on a 14-0 run to grab a 16-2 lead with 3:56 to play in the quarter. Dodge City was able to cut the lead to seven on a jumper by
Francheska Aguino, but the Saints got the lead back to 10 before the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was a battle offensively. The Conquistadors were eventually able to cut the lead to four with 3:09 to play but Seward went on another run to end the quarter and push the lead to 42-29 heading into the locker room.
The Seward offense picked up the pace in the third quarter, outscoring the Conquistadors, 28-10. After a
Taylor Lee three-pointer with three minutes left in the quarter, the Saints then went on a 10-0 run to end the quarter and take a commanding 70-39 lead into the final quarter.
Dodge City was unable to make any sort of run in the forth quarter, with the Saints grabbing a 39 point lead at one point. With two free throws late in the game, the Conqs fell to the Saints, 88-53.
Dodge City is now 5-10 on the year and 2-10 in KJCCC play. They will be in action again on Saturday as they travel to Hutchinson Community College.
