Box Score IOLA, Kan. - A first half deficit put the Dodge City Community College women's basketball team in a hole that they could never recover from, falling to Allen County Community College by a final score of 97-54 in Iola, Kansas on Saturday, February 18th.
With three games left in the regular season, DC3 is now 4-23 overall and 4-19 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference while the Lady Red Devils improved to 8-19 overall and 7-16 in the KJCCC.
Allen would jump out out to a quick lead early on and use 50 percent shooting from the floor in the first half to take a 49-22 lead into the locker room at intermission as the Conquistadors would struggle by shooting just eight of 31 (25.8%) in the first half. Things would not get much better in the second half despite an improvement in field goal percentage (12-37, 32.4%) as the Lady Red Devils nearly match their first half output by scoring 48 points in the second half.
Dodge City would finish just 28 of 68 (29.4%) from the floor and three of 24 (12.5%) from beyond the arc while connecting on 64.7 percent (11 of 17) shots from the free throw line. ACCC would outscore the Conquistadors 15-7 off of turnovers and hold a commanding 56-37 advantage on the glass. Three-point shooting would also play a big role in the game as Allen County held a 36-9 advantage from behind the three-point line.
