Box Score 2 HESSTON, Kan. – On Saturday night, the men's and women's soccer teams played at Hesston College, with the men falling in game one, 2-1 and the women winning game two, 4-2.
Hesston was able to grab a 1-0 lead with about 12 minutes left in the first half after the Larks got past the keeper.
Just two minutes later, coming off a corner kick, the ball bounced around in the box and was put into the back of the net by
Abel Chevelon to tie the game at one with just over 10 minutes left in the half.
20 minutes into the second half, the Larks were able to strike for the second time on the day, to make the score 2-1 with 25 minutes left in the game.
The Conqs were on the offensive for the rest of the game, but were unable to connect, losing the game, 2-1.
In the women's game, both teams went scoreless for most of the first half, but
Siobhan Longmore took on the defense with just over five minutes left in the first half and put it past the keeper to make the score, 1-0.
Later in the game, Longmore got another chance and put it past the keeper again, to make the score 2-0.
Keeley Milner was able to extend the lead to 3-0, putting the game out of the reach for the Larks.
Off a free-kick, the ball bounced around right in front of the net until
Pam Rosales was able to put the ball in the back of the net to make the score 4-0.
Not too long after the Conqs scored their third goal, the Larks netted their first goal of the game to cut the lead to 4-1.
Again, late in the action, Hesston netted their second goal to keep them in the game, cutting the score to 4-2.
The men are now 6-5-3 on the year, while the women are 8-6-1. Both teams will be in action again on October 12 at Pratt Community College.
