Box Score LIBERAL, Kan. - The Dodge City Community College volleyball team never could find their groove in a 3-0 (21-25, 12-25, 20-25) loss at Seward County Community College on Wednesday, September 21st.
DC3 is now 10-7 on the year and 2-4 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
A tight first set went back and forth before the Saints would pull away late to take a 25-21 set win and a 1-0 lead in the match. The Conquistadors couldn't get anything going in the second set as everything that could go wrong did go wrong with Seward County running away with a 25-12 set victory. In the third set, Dodge City fell behind early and could never truly recover, eventually falling by a score of 25-20.
Sophomore
Briana Brown led in assists with 11 to go along with one service ace and nine digs.
Sada Smith had 10 digs and five kills while
Raquel Valdez had six kills and one ace.
"We were slow tonight all around, and especially to start and finish the game" said head coach
Kamri Nehls in a post-game interview. "We waited for them to make mistakes instead of forcing them to make the mistakes." "To prepare for this weekend, we have to have ashort memory and make the necessary adjustments to come out and compete."
The Conquistadors will be in action out in Lakewood, Colorado when they take part in the Colorado Christian University JV Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Action gets underway at 3 p.m. (MDT) on Friday and 8 a.m. (MDT) on Saturday.
