Rachel Slattery bucket capped a 12-2 run to start the game for the Conqs (17-10 overall, 7-9 KJCCC) as DC3 eventually took a 24-10 lead into the second quarter.
The advantage eventually grew to 46-26 at the half and ballooned to as large as 34 points in the second half before cruising to the 22-point win.
"Once we got rolling, we were pretty tough to stop," DC3 coach
Mark James said. "It was fun to watch today, for the most part. I was a little disappointed with the way we ended the game, but that is nitpicking a little bit when you are up 35 and you put in some kids who are battling for playing time. I thought we played hard from start to finish though."
Pacing the big first half was
Antania Newton as the sophomore scored 18 of her game-high 21 points in the first two quarters. She finished 3-for-5 from 3-point range, giving her 67 on the season - tied for for the third most in a single season in DC3 history.
Despite battling foul trouble and taking only three shots (all of which she made), Slattery finished with 12 points, five rebounds and two blocks.
Alexus Johnson had 10 points for the Conqs while
Brittany Leonard had a strong game off the bench with nine points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal.
The Conqs were sharp from the free-throw line, going 28-for-34 (82.4 percent).
The DC3 defense was also strong, holding Pratt to 30.3 percent shooting from the field. Taneasha Rhode led Pratt with 14 points.
It is the second year in a row the Conqs have a win over Pratt after going seven seasons without a win against the Beavers (a stretch of 14 games).
