GAME NOTES: Conqs look to stay in hunt for home regional game

DODGE CITY, Kan. — The Dodge City Community College women's basketball team looks to stay in the hunt for a home game for the Region VI Tournament while trying to snap its five-game losing skid when the Conquistadors host Pratt 1 p.m. Saturday at the Dodge City Civic Center.

- The Conqs come into Saturday's contest two games behind Independence for the eighth and final hosting spot for the first round of the Region VI Tournament after DC3's near upset at Garden City on Wednesday - a 73-70 overtime loss.
- DC3 trailed by as much as 16 in the second half before a lineup led by four reserves and starting post Rachel Slattery got the Conqs back into the game and forced overtime against a team that had defeated them by 35 points earlier this season. Slattery paced the Conqs with 20 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks.
- Slattery is sixth in the KJCCC in scoring (14.7), first in rebounding (13.2) and field goal percentage (63.2) and second in blocks (3.0).

- The Conqs' six KJCCC wins is the most for the program since the 2006-07 season when it went 5-11. It's 16 wins is the second-most since the 2005-06 season when it won 20 games (the Conqs won 17 games in 2013-14).
- Coach Mark James (third season) is 45-44 at DC3 and 12-33 in KJCCC play.

- Pratt has dropped seven of its last eight games with its only win over that stretch coming at home against Neosho County on Feb. 3 (63-48). The Beavers are coming off back-to-back road losses to Coffeyville (Feb. 6 - 89-68) and to Allen County (Wednesday - 88-80).
- Pratt has two players averaging double figures in scoring in 6-foot-2 freshman Megan Poole (10.8) and 5-foot-10 sophomore Taneasha Rhode (10.0). The duo also leads the team in rebounding with Rhode averaging 5.8 rebounds and Poole at 5.0 rebounds.
