Antania Newton helped lift the Dodge City Community College women's basketball team to an impressive 91-69 victory over Neosho County in the Conquistadors' KJCCC opener Wednesday on the road.
Newton drained eight 3-pointers for the second consecutive game (she was 8-for-11 Wednesday and is 16-for-23 in her last two games) to lead a 14-for-34 effort from beyond the arc for the Conquistadors (10-1, 1-0 KJCCC). She also had a team-high eight rebounds.

Overall DC3 limited its mistakes (10 turnovers in the game), shot the ball well from the free-throw line (27-for-33) and outscored Neosho (6-4, 0-2) in each quarter - including 30-19 in the fourth - to come away with win.
"Tonight was probably our most complete game of the year," James said. "Neosho is a really good team and this has always been a tough place to play. The atmosphere in the gym was phenomenal tonight. ... We stayed poised and put together four really solid quarters."
Talisha Presley had a strong night as well with 14 points and a team-high nine assists,
Brittany Leonard had 12 points (including going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line) and
Alexus Johnson had 11 points (including three 3-pointers).
Makayla Bell led Neosho with 14 points and seven rebounds.
The Conqs hit the road again Saturday when they travel to play Coffeyville.
