RECENT HISTORY

- Dodge City is 9-4 against Highland since 2002, though the teams have alternated victories since 2009 with the Scotties winning last season's contest 38-13.

PREVIOUS GAME

- The Conqs are coming off a 34-28 road victory over a Coffeyville team that just a few weeks ago was ranked No. 1 in the country (it's ranked 18th in this week's rankings after dropping its last three games). Dodge City led for 51 minutes and 40 seconds in the game, including the final 35:44.

- Highland is coming off a 27-18 loss to No. 4 Butler last week - a game it trailed 21-6 after the first quarter as the Scotties outscored the Grizzlies 12-6 in the final three quarters. The Highland defense held Butler to 263 yards - 135 passing and 128 rushing.

QUICK HITS

- The Conqs picked up their eighth win of the season against Coffeyville last week, tying the most wins by the program in a single season since 1961 (the 1983 team went 8-3). Two Conq teams have recorded nine victories (1961, 1957) - the most in school history.

- DC3's Justin McInnis is 12th in the NJCAA with 796 yards receiving and is fifth in yards per catch at 20.4. The freshman is within striking distance of the school record for receiving yards in a season set by Jeron Harvey with 956 in 2004.

- Another Conq receiver is within striking distance of a pair of DC3 career receiving records as Tennessee-commit Jeff George's 88 career receptions is five short of the all-time mark of 93 set by Bruce Gordon (2002-03). George's 1,323 career receiving yards is 103 yards shy of Gordon's school record of 1,426.

- Florida-commit Mark Thompson continues to be near the top of the NJCAA in rushing yards (1,133, fifth), rushing touchdowns (14, fifth) and carries (238, second). He's also the all-time rushing touchdown leader at DC3 with 22 after his score last week against Coffeyville.

- DC3 freshman linebacker Gary Johnson is fifth in the NJCAA in tackles with 109 as he's 15 short of the school's all-time record of 124 set by E.J. Kuale in 2003.

- The DC3 defense is ninth in the country with 40 sacks, led by defensive tackle Dion Dawson's nine. That's helped the Conqs defense allow 286 yards per game this season (18th in the NJCAA) and just 81.7 rushing yards per contest (fifth in the NJCAA).

- Third-year coach Gary Thomas' winning percentage of .548 (17-14) at DC3 is fourth all time at the school and he's a win short of tying Arthur Parkhurst (1953-55) for sixth on the all-time wins list at 18.

- Highland has gone 5-2 since dropping its first two games of the season to Garden City (36-28) and No. 10 Iowa Western (13-6). This includes wins over Hutchinson (31-12) and Coffeyville (41-34) at home.

- Highland enters Saturday's game at Memorial Stadium 1-3 on the road.

- Dodge City is 3-1 at home this season with its only blemish a last-second loss to No. 10 Iowa Western.

- The Scotties have rushed for 97 yards or more in each game while passing for 185 or more yards in seven of their nine games (including their last five games).
