Box Score KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- The Dodge City Community College women's soccer team appears to be peaking at the right time as the Conquistadors picked up a key 2-0 road victory over Kansas City Kansas Community College on Friday night.
Facing a Blue Devil team coming off a 0-0 tie with No. 11 Johnson County on Tuesday, DC3 (9-5 overall, 6-3 KJCCC) controlled much of the contest and was able to break through the KCKCC (4-7-1, 2-5-1) defense in the second half.
Cynthia Rodela got the Conqs on the board in the 58th minute on a pass from
Kristina Trinceri to make it 1-0 before Trinceri scored 17 minutes later on an assist from
Rachel VanBuskirk. Overall, DC3 outshot the Blue Devils 30-7.

Elyssia Lucio picked up five saves to collect the shutout.
"We played some of the best soccer we have all year," DC3 coach
Tim Romanello said. "... Our center mids (VanBuskirk, Jaque Gonzalez,
Dominique Arzaga and
Daniela Torannini) really controlled the entire game.
"I'm really proud of what they are doing on and off the field."
The Conqs sit in fourth place in the KJCCC, which is the final spot to host a Region VI quarterfinal matchup (the top seven in the KJCCC and the winner of Hesston College and Northwest Kansas Tech make the regional tournament). DC3 is a game up on fifth-place Barton and a game behind third-place Hutchinson with two matches remaining - at Garden City (Wednesday) and at Hutchinson (Friday).
Notes: The nine wins for the DC3 women ties the fourth-most in the program's history (record is 13 set in 2004). ... Rodela's goal was her 12th of the season - a team high. ... Trinceri's goal was her ninth (second on team) and her assist was her sixth (a team best). ... Friday was Lucio's fourth shutout of 2015.
