Box Score DODGE CITY, Kansas: Dodge City men's basketball tabbed another Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference victory tonight, after putting down Seward County 76-71 for the win.
DC3 was down by three in the first half, allowing the Saints a 37-34 lead heading into the second half.
The Conqs posted a 46.4 field goal percentage after hitting 13-28 and went 3-11 for a 27.3 three-point field goal percentage. They also hit 5-7 from the charity stripe for a 71.4 free throw percentage to start things off.
After the first 20 minutes,
Payton Pervier led the team with 13 points and two blocks while owning five boards.
Ameer Jackson pulled down six rebounds and
George Brock was good for nine points after going 3-6 from the field and a near-perfect 3-4 from long.
In the second half, the Conqs went down to start as Seward County put in a 12-4 run in the first four minutes.
Dc3 continued to fight back and took the advantage when
James Newton picked up an offensive rebound and answered with a dunk and then returned the next possession for a stop and good three to go up over the Saints.
It went back and forth and truly came down to the last few minutes.
With two minutes left, the Conqs put up a big stop on the other end to keep the 71-66 lead.
It stayed close through to the end with the score fluctuating a few points here and there, but keeping the lead. After a few SCCC fouls, DC3 would end the game with a 76-71 KJCCC victory.
Five Conqs were good for double-figure points on the night.
EJ Eaves led the offensive effort with 19 points after hitting 7-15 from the field and 5-7 from the stripe. He added six boards and one assist as well.
Pervier, Jackson, Newton and
George Brock all also hit double-figures on the offensive.
Pervier and Brock ended with 13 points apiece. Brock hit four from the field, went 3-6 from long and hit 2-2 from the charity stripe while owning two assists, two boards, one block and one steal on the night. Pervier pulled down six boards and ended with two blocks. Four of his boards were on the offensive.
Jackson owned 10 points and six boards, while adding one steal and one assist. Newton put up 10 points as well, along with an assist and a steal. He was perfect from the field with 4-4 and from the arc with a 2-2 performance.
Brett O'Neil led the team with six assists and
Raheem Watts added six boards to help the effort as well.
DC3 will hit the road next weekend on Sunday, January 25, ready to take on Garden City at 4 p.m.
