Conqs’ Men’s Basketball Falls 80-79 to Cloud County on the Road

DODGE CITY, Kansas: Coming off a big victory over #6 Hutchinson, Dodge City men’s basketball were unable to keep the winning up with an 80-79 loss on the road to Cloud County. Before Wednesday night, the Conqs were attempting to advance a three-game winning streak with no luck.

In the game, DC3 put up 39.3 percent from the field, 47.8 from long and 77.4 from the stripe, outshooting the opposition in both free throws and long distance percentages.

Cloud capitalized with 19 points off turnovers, compared to the 10 that Dodge fought fore.  Dodge led the teams with 28 points off the bench, while only allowing 16 to the opponents, but regardless of the numbers, Cloud came away with the win.

Despite the loss, Dc3 had four players manage double-figures on the offensive with EJ Eaves leading the Conqs with 20 points after hitting four form the field, one from long and going 11-14 from the charity stripe. 
Ameer Jackson garnered 19 points for the Conqs after going 4-6 from the field, 2-3 from the arc and 9-13 from the free throw line while collecting four boards, one assist and one steal.

With 16 points, was George Brock who knocked down six from the field and went 4-8 from three-point range while pulling down four boards and posting three assists and one steal on the night.

Closing out the high scoring was Brett O'Neill with 12 points after sinking four from the field, two from long and shooting a perfect 2-2 form the stripe.  He also collected three assists and one steal for the Conqs.

The Thunderbirds shut down big-man Payton Pervier on the offensive, but he was unstoppable as ever on the rebounding effort with 15 total on the night, 10 of which were on the defensive.  He also posted one block for the Conqs.

DC3 will fight for their next victory on Saturday, January 17 at home in the Civic Center at 7:30 p.m.  The Conqs will take on the Saints of Seward County.
