HUTCHINSON, Kansas: Dc3 women's basketball headed down to Hutchinson, Kansas last night, intent on snagging a victory out from under the #2 team in the nation. Unfortunately, Hutchinson had other plans as they put down the Conqs 108-60, dropping DC3s KJCCC record to 1-3 and overall record to 10-8.
Azaria Nave and
Hannah Whitaker led the offensive effort for the Conqs with 15 points and 11 points respectively. Nave added three boards and one assist while hitting six from the field, two from long and one from the stripe. Whitaker led the team with 12 rebounds for yet another double-double and two blocks, while adding one steal.
Talisha Presley and
Antania Newton also garnered eight points apiece in the effort. Newton also added four assists on the night.
Hutchinson won the first half 45-29 over the Conqs and continued with a 63-31 output in the second for the 48-point victory.
Throughout the game, the Conqs posted a 35.1 output from the field, 32.0 from the arc and 63.2 from the free throw line. The opposition was good for 52.8 percent from the field, 33.3 from long and 81.1 from the charity stripe.
Dodge gave up 29 points off turnovers as opposed to the six they collected and had a hard time rebounding against the #2 team in the nation with a 30-50 rebounding outing against the Blue Dragons and low percentages on both ends, offensive and defensive rebounding.
DC3 will continue the week on Wednesday, January 14 at 6 and 8 p.m. when they hit the road to take on Cloud County.
