Box Score DODGE CITY, Kansas: Dodge City women's soccer overcame a slow first half to win on an 81
st minute game-winner by
Kristina Trinceri tonight, defeating Pratt 1-0 in a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference matchup.
"The girls worked really hard," commented head coach
Tim Romanello. "They are resilient."
Dodge only put one shot up in the first half, but commanded possession in the second after posting 12 shots to outshoot the opposition 13-4 on the night. Seven of the Conqs' 13 shots were on goal during the contest.
"It was a tale of two halves; we struggled to find feet in the first half and it looked like a giant game of kickball," continued Romanello. "Then in the second half we seemed to be capable of pinging the ball all over the place and creating all sorts of chances."
"We created one really nice change from
Kayla Turner, but just couldn't convert it…that would have been a huge boost for us going into the break up 1-0."
With the match looking like extra time, the Conquistadors gained possession directly in front of the goal.
Rachel VanBuskirk passed a touch over to
Erica Ramos who kept the momentum going over to Trinceri who finished with a goal through to the back of the net.
"Everything was going really well for us in the second half, just couldn't seem to find the back of the net," finished Romanello. "Their goalkeeper played really well tonight."
Goalkeeper
Elyssia Lucio posted two saves, one in each half, throughout her 90:00 between the posts for the Conquistadors. Pratt goalie Maguli Vasquez put in six saves against DC3 throughout the match.
