Dodge City softball got back into the win column on Monday as they swept a doubleheader at home against Lamar, picking up a 10-0 five-inning win and a 9-3 win in game two.

The Conquistadors, with the victory, improved to 23-11 on the season and 15-3 at home.

Conqs dip back into Jayhawk Conference play on Wednesday, March 25th, at home with a doubleheader against Seward County starting at 1:00 pm.

Game 1 – Won 10-0 vs Lamar (5 innings)
After working around a pair of base runners for Lamar in the top of the first, the Conqs got the offense moving in the bottom of the first, starting with a leadoff single from Karen Galaviz. Galaviz came around to score on an RBI double from Avery McCloskey, and then an error allowed McCloskey to score herself, making it 2-0. In the second, the runs continued to come for the Conqs as Dezarae Schmidt drove in a pair of runs on a single and then McCloskey belted a two-run homer to make it 7-0. Harley Shoaf brought in a pair of runs on a double in the third, making it 9-0, and then scored on a passed ball as the Conqs led 10-0. Lamar managed just a couple of base runners over the next few innings, but the Conqs kept them off the scoreboard, earning the 10-0 lead.

McCloskey paced the offense as she was 2-3 with two runs scored, four RBI, a double, and a home run. Galaviz went 2-3 with two runs scored, and Loren Sweat tallied a 2-3 with two runs scored. Both Schmidt and Shoaf went 1-2 with two RBI and a run scored each.

A Lamar error scored another run for the Conqs to take the lead, and then Karli George smacked a two-run homer to make it 4-1.
