Women's Basketball Uses Hot Shooting Day With 19 Three Pointers to Top Coffeyville

It was raining threes as the Dodge City women's basketball team was scorching hot from the floor on Saturday at home against Coffeyville in a convincing 94-68 victory.

The Conquistadors bounced back from their second loss in the season, moving to 20-2 on the year and 15-2 in KJCCC action with the win. The win is the fourth in a row against Coffeyville in the series and the sixth win in the last seven meetings with the Red Ravens. It also marks four straight years with 20+ wins for the women's basketball program.

Buckets were dropping early and often for the Conqs as they shot 80% from the floor in the first quarter and scored over 30 points in a quarter for the seventh time this season. While Coffeyville shot well in the first quarter as well, the Conqs led 32-24 after the first 10 minutes. The shots continued to pour in for the Conqs in the second quarter, opening the frame on a 12-0 run and ultimately outscoring the Red Ravens 21-4 in the quarter, marking the 11th time this season the Conqs have held an opponent to single digits in a quarter.

Leading 53-28 after the first half, the Conqs would use that lead to cruise past Coffeyville as they continued to slice up the Red Ravens defense getting great looks at the basket and knocking down 10 more three-pointers. The Conqs ultimately secured the 94-68 victory.

For the seventh time this season, the Conqs shot over 50% as a team, shooting 55% for the game, while holding Coffeyville to 36.9% shooting and forcing 17 turnovers by the Red Ravens. The Conqs had a season-high 19 made three-pointers in the contest and dished out 24 assists on 33 made field goals.

Jolie Mantz dropped in six three-pointers on the day, finishing with 21 points on 7-14 shooting overall. Manuela Piljevic added 15 points and six rebounds, while Savi Mi tallied 16 points with five assists. Sofia Ahmed was one point shy of her career-high as she scored 11 points, and Jade Célérier posted 10 points and grabbed a career-high seven rebounds.

The Conqs square off with #20 Hutchinson up next on the road on Wednesday, February 11th at 5:30 pm.
