Dodge City women's soccer hit the road to take on a top team in the Jayhawk conference, squaring off with #7 Cowley, and while the Conquistadors stayed close most of the match, they dropped the contest 2-0.
The loss sends the Conqs to 4-3 on the season and 2-3 in KJCCC action.
From the start, the Conqs were on their heels and settled in defensively to try and stymie a Cowley Tigers attack that continued throughout the contest. The matchup remained scoreless until the 16th minute, when Cowley scored a goal in the first half. The second half saw Cowley on the attack more, leading to the Tigers' second goal in the 70th minute, which ultimately resulted in a 2-0 final.
The Conqs recorded 13 saves in the loss while struggling to find offense in the matchup.
After two straight matches on the road, the Conqs return home for the next two, starting with a matchup against Butler on Wednesday, October 1st, at 5:00 pm.
