Recent struggles continued for Dodge City women's soccer as they suffered a 4-0 loss at home against Butler.
The loss drops the Conquistadors to 4-4 on the season and 2-4 in Jayhawk conference action.
Butler took control of possession early, and it would pay dividends for the Grizzlies as they got on the board just over five minutes into the contest off a header on a corner kick. The Conqs would work a few opportunities, but Butler was able to stop them and then add another goal in the 34th minute to lead 2-0 at halftime. In the second half, the Conqs would manage just two looks at the goal while Butler fired off eight more shots, including a penalty kick attempt in the 50th minute that would be saved by
Lucy Goss for the Conqs. After stopping the penalty kick, the Conqs looked to use that momentum but were met with pressure from Butler, and ultimately the Grizzlies tallied two more goals to top the Conqs 4-0.
The Conqs were outshot 16-10 in the matchup, but Butler finished half of their shots on goal to earn the victory.
The Conqs are back at home on Saturday, October 4th, as they take on Coffeyville at 3:00 pm to continue conference play.
