Volleyball Drops Conference Matchup Against Garden City

Dodge City volleyball hosted rival Garden City, and for the third straight match, the Conquistadors would fall to a Jayhawk Conference foe in four sets, as the Conqs fell 18-25, 25-23, 21-25, 20-25. 
 
The loss moves the Conqs to 8-9 on the season and 2-3 in KJCCC action. 
 
The Conqs would start slow on the night as Garden City worked to an early lead in the first set, going up 11-5, leading to a Dodge City timeout. The lead would grow to eight at 19-11 in the first set, and the Conqs would fall 25-18 in the set. The second set saw the Broncbusters of Garden City fire off a 6-0 start and would lead until the Conqs tied the set at 15-15 and then took their first lead on the night at 18-17. Garden City countered with another 6-0 run to lead 23-18 in the second set, but the Conqs were resilient, bouncing back with a 7-0 run to take the second set 25-23. In the third set, Garden City had another strong start, leading 10-4 but a 4-1 run by the Conqs midway through the set gave the Conqs a 15-13 advantage. Garden City once again had an answer, regaining the lead and taking the third set 25-21. The fourth set saw the Conqs fall behind 12-6 but claw their way back to draw within one at 18-17. Garden City went on a 3-0 run to regain control and used that to help finish the match, taking the fourth set 25-20. 
 
Amariah White had her sixth double-digit kill performance of the season and second in a row, recording 11 kills on a .348 hitting percentage while adding four block assists and a solo block. Sunni Skipps added eight kills and 13 digs, while Kayla Cantrill posted eight kills and 11 digs. Chelsea Durbridge finished with 36 assists, 11 digs, three block assists, and four kills. 
 
Conqs continue their homestand on Wednesday, September 24th, when they host Cloud County at 6:30 pm. Before the match, there will be a ribbon-cutting to commemorate the naming of the Dome as the Skinner Family Student Activity Center.
