Baseball Picks Up Win Over Bethany JV

Week of non-conference action continued for Dodge City baseball as they took on Bethany JV in Lindsborg for one nine-inning contest and picked up a 6-2 win. 

The Conquistadors with the win improved to 26-18 on the season with the win. 

After a scoreless first two innings of action, the Conqs grabbed the lead in the third when Avery Phillips led off the inning with a solo home run. The Conqs added to the lead in the fifth as Seth Brown recorded an RBI double, Calvin Warrillow had an RBI triple, and Cameron Stukenborg blasted a two-run homer highlighting a five-run inning for the Conqs. Bethany JV would tally a run in the fifth and eighth innings, but the Conqs would not allow any more securing the 6-2 victory. 

On the mound, Wyatt Sadleir tossed six strong innings to earn the win giving up just one run on one hit and three walks while striking out two. Harrison Hankins, Kenny Manresa, and Manuel Burguesa each saw action to wrap up the game on the mound. 

Warrillow paced the Conqs offense going 3-5 with a run scored, an RBI, and a triple. Phillips added a 2-3 game with an RBI, a run scored, a walk, and a home run. Brown also had a multi-hit game going 2-5 with a run scored, two RBI, and a double. 

The Conqs wrap up the week of non-conference action by taking on a Jayhawk Conference team from the east side of the conference as they square off with #9 Johnson County on Thursday, April 17th in Overland Park for a doubleheader. The Conqs will flip back to conference play in the following weeks with just two series remaining against Barton and Seward County.
