Women's Basketball Stretches Home Winning Streak to 22 With Win Over Pratt

Dodge City women's basketball rolled to their 22nd straight win at home remaining unbeaten at home this season at 10-0 with a 106-54 win over Pratt. 

The Conquistadors with the win move to 21-2 on the season and 16-1 in Jayhawk Conference action, while giving them a six-game win streak currently. The win also marks the sixth time this season the Conqs have won by 40+ points. 

Over the first four minutes of action, the Conqs were able to establish a double-figure lead outscoring Pratt 13-3 and through the first six minutes of action, the Conqs had developed a 22-3 lead. At the end of the first quarter, the Conqs had firm control of the game leading 28-9, and would go on to outscore Pratt 26-7 in the second stanza to lead 54-16 at halftime. Conqs would tack on 52 more points in the second half surpassing the century mark for the third time this season and securing the 106-54 win. 

For the tenth time this season, the Conqs shot over 50% as a team (52.4%) while netting 11 three-pointers. The Conqs controlled the boards outrebounding Pratt 49-24, while defensively the Conqs forced 27 turnovers and held Pratt to just 29% shooting which marks the ninth time this season the Conqs have held an opponent to under 30% shooting. 

Six Conqs finished the night with double figures including Shorna Preston who had a game-high 20 points on 9-13 shooting while notching her 13th double-double of the season with 10 rebounds. Preston added eight steals, six assists, and two blocks to stuff the stat sheet on the night. Tayah Morgan snapped her recent cold spell by scoring 16 points, while Layla-J Cameron posted 14 points. Savi Mi and Mia Jordan each contributed 12 points off the bench while Jordan also grabbed six rebounds. Morane Dossou had a strong performance with 10 points and six rebounds. 

The Conqs are back on the road on Saturday, February 8th to take on Seward County in Liberal at 2:00 pm.
