For the fourth consecutive year, the Dodge City volleyball team is headed to the semifinals of the playoffs after earning a five-set win over rival Garden City at home in the first round of the postseason region tournament.

Â
The Conqs started the night slowly, falling behind 7-3 early, but pushed back to make it a one-point contest at 8-7. Garden City answered with a run and worked to a 15-9 lead, and the Conqs called a timeout. The Conqs fought back and would go on a 6-1 run to tie the first set up at 16-16 on a

The second set was back-and-forth early, leading to a 7-7 tie. Garden City would then take a lead, and despite a run by the Conqs, it was the Broncbusters of Garden City taking the second set 25-21.Â

The third set would see the Conqs double up Garden City early, leading 6-3, 8-4, and then 10-5. The lead would expand for the Conqs led 15-8 with the Broncbusters calling a timeout, and then the lead ballooned to double figures as the Conqs won the third set 25-14. Both teams would have leads in the earlier portion of the fourth set, but with the Conqs up 11-10, Garden City went on a 3-0 run to snag the lead at 13-11. Broncbusters worked to a 24-18 lead in the fourth set, but the Conqs would fend off set point times before Garden City took it 25-22. Conqs grabbed early control in the fifth set, going up 2-0 and then 6-1 before leading 8-3 and switching sides of the floor. Garden City mounted a 7-2 run and tied the set up 10-10. Again, the Conqs had an answer, grabbing the lead back and finishing the match on a 5-1 run to win the fifth set 15-11.Â
