Dodge City women's basketball rolled to 3-0 on the season with a 94-52 rout of North Platte in the first home game of the season.
Three-point buckets were splashing in early and often for the Conquistadors as the first five shots of the game the Conqs connected on were from behind the arc, leading to a 15-5 lead just over four minutes into the contest. The Conqs' lead dwindled to just two at 17-15 with just under three minutes remaining in the first quarter, but the Conqs finished the quarter outscoring North Platte 14-2 to lead 31-17. The lead grew in the second quarter, reaching 20 at 49-29 early, and the Conqs' big first quarter gave them a 46-29 halftime lead. Conqs again had a strong third quarter, adding to their lead with a 27-10 third stanza, and cruised to the 94-52 victory.
Conqs finished on the night 48.6% from the floor and were 46.2% from three-point range with 18 made three-pointers while also having 24 assists on 35 made field goals. Conqs held North Platte to 39.3% shooting and just 4-15 from three-point range, forcing 27 turnovers by the Knights of North Platte.
A quartet of Conqs scored double figures, led by
Manuela Piljevic, who posted 19 points on 7-14 shooting, adding eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Savi Mi matched her career high with 17 points and dished out seven assists, while
Jolie Mantz scored 17, going 5-9 from three-point range.
Mailey Cunningham chipped in 10 points.
The Conqs hit the road to wrap up non-conference play Friday and Saturday, November 14th and 15th, when they head to Cheyenne, Wyoming, to compete at the Laramie County CC Classic against Trinidad State and Laramie County.
