Box Score For the third straight game, the Dodge City women's basketball team cruised past their competition, claiming a win by over 40 points for the third straight game, beating Trinidad State 94-47 at the Laramie County CC Classic in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
The victory moves the Conquistadors to 4-0 to start the season as they will wrap up non-conference play on Saturday against Laramie County.
The night would start slowly for both sides as the Conqs led just 2-0 after the first two minutes of the contest and only 9-8 at the 3:33 mark of the first stanza. A
Morgan Ruff three-pointer sparked the Conqs a bit as they finished the first quarter on a 9-2 run to lead 18-10 after the first ten minutes. The buckets would start to fall in the second quarter as the Conqs outscored Trinidad State 12-2 over the first four minutes of the second to lead 30-12. The points just continued to pile in as the Conqs would post a 30-piece in the second quarter and led 48-18 at halftime after a 30-8 second quarter. Everyone would get involved in the second half, and the Conqs expanded the lead even more, doubling up Trinidad State 24-12 in the third and going on to earn the 94-47 victory.
The Conqs offense continued to be efficient, shooting 47.9% and making 15 three-pointers, with 28 assists on 34 made field goals.
Five players tallied double figures in a balanced scoring performance, as 12 different players scored.
Saje Evans had a team-high 13 points on 4-7 shooting and 4-4 free throws, adding three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Savi Mi tallied 12 points, adding a career-high eight rebounds along with three assists, three steals, and a block.
Manuela Piljevic has scored double figures in all four games this season, finishing with 11 against Trinidad State, adding six rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Off the bench, sophomores
Sofia Ahmed and
Ashley Lee each record 10 points. For Lee, it's a career high, and she added four rebounds and two assists.
Non-conference play wraps up for the Conqs on Saturday, November 15th, at 2:00pm against Laramie County at the Laramie County CC Classic. The Conqs will then move into KJCCC action starting on the road against Barton on Wednesday, November 19th, at 5:30pm in Great Bend.
