For the first time since the 2019 season, the Dodge City women's soccer team has picked up six wins in a season as they avenged an earlier season loss to rival Garden City but taking the Broncbusters down 1-0 on the road.
The Conquistadors, with the win, improve to 6-4 on the season and 4-4 in KJCCC action. The victory also comes in their seventh match, decided by one goal this season, and the Conqs are 6-1 in those matches.
Shots would be farther and few between with both teams combining for just 10 total shots in the contest. In the 18th minute, the Conqs broke through when Meike Patzold found
Naomy Parra, who split a pair of defenders and tallied, becoming the eighth different Conq to score a goal this season. The Conqs would carry the 1-0 lead into halftime and ultimately hold off Garden City throughout the second half to secure the road win.
The Conqs would be outshot 6-4 in the contest, but three of the four Conq shots were on goal.
Lucy Goss was strong in goal again as she to their fourth shutout win of the season and recorded a pair of saves.
The Conqs will travel to Hutchinson on Friday, October 10th, to finish up their suspended game from September 17th and then turn around and host the Blue Dragons on Sunday, October 12th, at 2:00 pm for a home match.
