Dodge City women's soccer traveled to Hutchinson for the second time this season as they resumed a suspended match against the Blue Dragons from September 17th and would fall 8-1.
The Conquistadors, with the loss, move to 6-5 on the season and 4-5 in KJCCC play.
The Conqs would strike first on the night of September 17th against Hutchinson, the original date of the contest, as
Mette Battling would find the back of the net for the Conqs in the 12th minute on a pass from
Kensia Dos Santos. The lead would only hold for just over five minutes as Hutchinson scored in the 17th minute to tie the match, and then took the lead in the 26th minute. Blue Dragons would add another goal to lead 3-1, and with 10:19 left in the first half, the match was stopped due to weather and ultimately would be suspended.
The match would restart on October 10th with 10:19 left in the first half as the Conqs looked to try and make a run to tighten the match but Hutchinson tallied another goal to lead 4-1 entering halftime. In the second half, the Conqs would see the Blue Dragons continue their strong offensive push as they tacked on four more goals to hand the Conqs an 8-1 loss.
In the loss, the Conqs were outshot 23-4, firing off just two shots each in the first and second half apiece.
Kimya Kante-Mavuba started the match back on September 17th and recorded four saves, while
Lucy Goss was in goal once the match resumed and recorded saves.
Conqs turnaround and will host Hutchinson on Sunday, October 12th at 2:00 pm to continue KJCCC play.
