Dodge City football hit the road for the third time this season, traveling to Fort Dodge, Iowa, to take on their fourth-ranked opponent of the season, facing off with #14 Iowa Central.
The Conquistadors struggled to get anything going, falling to the Tritons 49-0 on the road, dropping to 1-4 on the season.
Iowa Central took control of the contest early as they hit a big pass play on their first drive and would cap it with a touchdown and ultimately add another touchdown in the first quarter to lead 14-0. The Conqs would have a fumble stymie some offensive movement in the first quarter and would look to get on the board with a 42-yard field goal attempt, but it would be blocked. The Tritons capped their fourth drive of the game with a touchdown on the first play of the second quarter to make it 21-0. After a Conqs interception, Iowa Central would find the endzone once more and carry a 28-0 lead into halftime.
The second half would continue to see the Conqs struggle as Iowa Central tacked on two more touchdowns in the third quarter and another in the fourth to lead 49-0 with 11:26 remaining. The Conqs would mount a pair of drives in the latter portion of the fourth quarter, but ultimately stalled out in the redzone, ending the drives unable to convert on fourth down.
The Conqs had just 217 yards on offense while Iowa Central posted 486 yards, and the Conqs had three turnovers and were only able to generate one from the Tritons.
Tristen Graham and
Nate Gunderson led the Conqs defensively with seven tackles each, while
