Dodge City volleyball continued its strong stretch, keeping a home playoff match within reach behind a four-set win over Hutchinson, 25-22, 20-25, 25-8, 25-19, on the road.

The victory moves the Conquistadors to 14-13 on the season and 8-7 in the KJCCC action with only one regular-season match remaining. The win gives the Conqs a three-match win streak and wins in four of the last five matches.

The first set would see the Conqs grab the lead early, working to a 10-6 advantage, but Hutchinson closed the gap to one behind a 3-0 run and then back within one again at 14-13. The Conqs would have answers each time, keeping the Blue Dragons of Hutchinson at arm's length throughout the first set, going on to cap the set 25-22. The Conqs used an early 4-0 run to help them to a 6-2 lead as the Blue Dragons called an early timeout in the third set. Out of the timeout, the Conqs would go on a 6-1 run to grow the lead to 12-3, forcing Hutchinson to another timeout. The Conqs' run continued after the Blue Dragon's second timeout, and the Conqs would cap the third set, outscoring Hutchinson 19-6 from the 6-2 score, to take the set 25-8. Conqs went up 4-1 to open the fourth set but Hutchinson countered with a 5-0 run to go up 6-4; the set would be tied of a Hutchinson lead until the Conqs regained the lead at 18-17 and then would close the fourth set and match on a 9-3 run taking the set 25-19 to earn the victory.
