Volleyball Sweeps Cloud County On the Road

Box Score Dodge City volleyball picked up its second straight three-set sweep as they topped Cloud County on the road 25-17, 25-17, 25-14. 
 
The Conquistadors, with the victory, moved to .500 on the season at 13-13 and 7-7 in KJCCC action. The win is the third in the last four matches for the Conqs and the 10th three-set win this season for the Conqs. 
 
The day started strong for the Conqs with a 3-0 run to open the match, but Cloud County would tighten it up at 4-3, only to see the Conqs mount another run. Conqs worked to a 10-4 advantage, leading to a Cloud County timeout, then the lead blossomed to 16-8 before the Conqs went on to cap the first set 25-17. Conqs raced out to a 7-1 lead in the second set, but Cloud County would battle back and draw even at 11-11. Cloud County would even take a lead at 12-11, but the Conqs again countered, putting together a 5-0 run to regain control at 16-12. Ultimately, the Conqs would outscore Cloud County 14-5 from the 12-11 Cloud County lead, capping the second set with a 25-17 set win. Another quick start for the Conqs in the third set, going up 4-0, but Cloud County answered with a 5-0 run, only to see the Conqs come back with a 4-0 run. Leading 15-9 midway through the set, the Conqs would push forward and cruise past Cloud County 25-14 in the third to earn the three-set win. 
 
Kayla Cantrill notched nine kills for the Conqs while adding six digs, while Amariah White finished with seven kills. Chaehee Baek had a strong serving day with five aces, while recording a pair of kills and seven digs. Chelsea Durbridge finished with 23 assists, two kills, and five aces, while Sunni Skipps posted four kills and eight digs. 
 
The stretch of action on the road continues for the Conqs with their next contest as they are set to take on Hutchinson on Wednesday, October 29th, at 6:00 pm.
